Abstract

FAMILY SUPPORT ON BLOOD SUGAR CONTROL COMPLIANCE WITH DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC Yurida Olviani1, Dellya Novita2 12Faculty of Nursing & Health Science, University of Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin, Indonesia e-mail: [email protected] , [email protected] Abstract Diabetes is not only induced premature death worldwide. It is also a leading cause of blindness, heart disease and kidney failure. Recent data published in the 9th edition of the IDF Diabetes Atlas show that 463 million adults (20-79 years) are currently living with diabetes. Covid-19 become a global pandemic since it was established by WHO in early March 2020, has had a major impact on countries around the world. Family support plays an important role in motivating people with diabetes mellitus in doing therapy and treatment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hoped that family support will still be good to maintain the quality of life of people with Diabetes Mellitus. The research design used is a correlation analytic design which uses a cross sectional approach, with a population of 126 and a sample of 96 respondents conducted during June 2021. Data analysis was carried out with the chi square test. The results of this study presented relationship between family support and compliance withblood sugar control of people with diabetes mellitus during the covid-19 pandemic. The results are proven by the chi-square statistical test, the p value = 0.000. So, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between family support and compliance with blood sugar control of people with diabetes mellitus during the covid pandemic, but the two variables have different directions. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, COVID-19 pandemic, family support, blood sugar control, adherence. Abstrak Diabetes tidak hanya menyebabkan kematian premature di seluruh dunia. Penyakit ini juga menjadi penyebab utama kebutaan, penyakit jantung dan gagal ginjal. Data terbaru yang dipublikasikan dalam IDF Diabetes Atlas edisi ke-9 tahun 2019 menunjukkan bahwa 463 juta orang dewasa (20-79 tahun) saat ini hidup dengan diabetes. Covid-19 yang menjadi pandemi global sejak ditetapkan oleh WHO pada awal maret 2020 telah memberikan dampak yang besar bagi negara di seluruh dunia. Dukungan keluarga berperan penting dalam memotivasi penderita Diabetes mellitus dalam melakukan terapi dan pengobatan. Dimasa pandemi covid-19 diharapkan dukungan keluarga masih tetap baik untuk mempertahankan kualitas hidup penderita Diabetes Mellitus. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain analitik korelasi yang dimana menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional, dengan populasi 126 dan sampel 96 responden yang dilakukan selama bulan Juni 2021. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi Square. Hasil penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan kontrol gula darah penderita diabetes mellitus dimasa pandemi covid-19, hasil dibuktikan dengan uji statistik chi square didapatkan nilai p value= 0.000. Sehingga, disimpulkan ada hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan kontrol gula darah penderita diabetes mellitus dimasa pandemi covid, tetapi kedua variabel menunjukkan arah yang berbeda.
