Abstract

STIGMA MASYARAKAT SUKU BANJAR TERHADAP ORANG DENGAN GANGGUAN JIWA BERAT DI MASA PANDEMI COVID-19 Lanawati1, Gertrudis Tutpai2, Dewi Sinta3 1,2,3STIKES Suaka Insan Banjarmasin, Indonesia e-mail: lanawati.ssi@gmail.com Abstract Negative stigma related to mental disorders is still happening in Indonesia. The existence of this stigma has a negative impact on people with mental disorders, families, and its communities. The stigma given can potentially affect the rehabilitation process for people with mental disorder in the community. This study aims to describe the stigma of the Banjarese community related to people with mental disorder, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, using a quantitative descriptive research design. Data collection were using a questionnaire on 30 respondents. Respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique with the inclusion criteria: (1) The head of the family who is originally from Banjarese, and lives in the Pekauman area, (2) Willing to be a respondent, while the head of the family who is originally from Banjarese but has a close relationship with people with mental disorder or becomes a care giver to people with mental disorder were not taken as respondents. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and presented in frequency distributions table. This study found that 63.3% of the Banjarese involved in this study had a negative stigma towards severe people with mental disorder. They think that the cause of mental disorders is still supernatural, and people with mental disorder can rage in any situation. People with mental disorder was also considered not to have the ability to work and socialize, and the main treatment is religious treatment. From these findings, it is very important for primary health services to optimize health promotion and provide information related to mental disorders and the treatment process, to increase public knowledge to reduce negative stigma on mental disorders. Keywords: Banjar Tribe, ODGJ, Stigma, Community Mental Nursing, Transcultural Nursing Abstrak Stigma negatif terkait gangguan jiwa masih banyak ditemukan pada masyarakat di Indonesia. Keberadaan stigma ini menimbulkan dampak negatif pada penderita gangguan jiwa, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Stigma yang diberikan dapat berpotensi mempengaruhi proses rehabilitasi ODGJ di komunitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan stigma masyarakat suku Banjar terkait ODGJ terutama pada masa pandemi Covid-19, dengan menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner pada 30 responden. Responden dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi: (1) Kepala keluarga yang bersuku asli Banjar, dan tinggal di area Pekauman, (2) Bersedia menjadi responden, sementara kepala keluarga yang bersuku asli Banjar tetapi memiliki hubungan dekat dengan ODGJ atau menjadi care giver ODGJ tidak diambil sebagai responden. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan ditampilkan dalam tabel distribusi frekuensi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa 63,3% masyarakat suku Banjar yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini memiliki stigma negatif terhadap ODGJ berat. Mereka menganggap penyebab gangguan jiwa masih bersifat supranatural dan ODGJ dapat mengamuk dalam situasi apapun. ODGJ juga dianggap tidak memiliki kemampuan untuk bekerja dan bersosialisasi, serta penanganan utama adalah dengan pengobatan yang bersifat religius. Dari temuan tersebut, sangat penting bagi layanan kesehatan primer untuk mengoptimalkan promosi kesehatan dan pemberian informasi terkait gangguan jiwa serta proses pengobatannya, untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat sehingga mengurangi stigma negatif pada gangguan jiwa.
